High-pressure cutting up to 25 Bar is possible with this laser head without the need of ZnSe lenses or windows as beam-delivery terminators. The cutting gas is supplied to the process by a special annular jet.

Beam focussing is performed by direct water-cooled metal optics, which are renown for their thermal stability even at these high pressures. Cold/warm effects are much reduced, and the mirror will therefore not crack.

An integrated cross jet protects the focussing mirror during piercing and an anti-collision clutch reduces mechanical damage of the jet in the event of a collision.

A major advantage of this head is its ability to be used for laser welding tasks as well. To protect the filigree contours of the cutting head during welding, the head is lifted automatically and a protective water-cooled shield is mounted beneath it. This protective unit also houses the inert protective gas delivery system. Dynamic focal adjustments are made by adaptive optics.
